Fort White is 1-6 against Bell since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indians will take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Fort White is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Fort White proved they can win big last Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Suwannee, sneaking past 3-1.
Kadence Compton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Compton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Khloe Kirby, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bell had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.
Like Fort White, Bell also got a great game from a two-way player: Alaina Thomas. On the mound, Thomas pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Aurelia Darling pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Thomas went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Darling went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits Darling has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dacy Graham, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mayzie Carpenter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Bell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Fort White's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Bell, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
