Basketball Recap: Jailiyah Rockmore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Longview over North Forney

After flying high against Rockwall-Heath last Tuesday, Longview came back down to earth. The Longview Lobos took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Forney Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lobos came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Falcons are ranked 356th).

Longview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jailiyah Rockmore, who went 6 for 14 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Terri Sparkman, who posted eight points and 11 boards.

Longview dropped their record down to 20-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for North Forney, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.

Longview will face off against Royse City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Longview is facing Royse City at the right time seeing as Royse City is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for North Forney, they will venture away from home to challenge Rockwall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Forney will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
