Basketball Game Preview: Worland Warriors vs. Rawlins Outlaws

The Worland Warriors will take on the Rawlins Outlaws at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Worland is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Cody, who was ranked fourth at the time (Worland was ranked 16th). Worland took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cody on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled against the Broncs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rawlins, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past Torrington 48-46. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rawlins' win came from a few key players Worland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Damien Vialpando, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Timothy Philo, who earned nine points.

The victory snapped Rawlins' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-14 record. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. As for Worland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Worland came up short against Rawlins in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 57-53. Thankfully for Worland, Jaxson Allard (who shot 69% from the field en route to 29 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
