Softball Game Preview: Ocosta Wildcats vs. Wahkiakum Mules

The Ocosta Wildcats will head out to challenge the Wahkiakum Mules at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wahkiakum took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Ocosta, who comes in off a win.

Ocosta took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 30-0 margin over Oakville. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Acorns: they've now won three in a row.

Joanah Rosander made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Olive, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Anna Davis, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.

Ocosta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wahkiakum came up short against Naselle on Tuesday, falling 24-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Mules in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost four in a row.

Ocosta's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wahkiakum, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
