2011 MaxPreps Football Preseason All-American Team

Trio of offensive stars headline the MaxPreps 2011 Preseason All-American Team.

With multiple states kicking off this weekend, MaxPreps debuts its 2011 Preseason All-American Team, headlined by reigning National Junior of the Year Johnathan Gray.

Gray has rushed for 6,990 yards and scored 124 touchdowns, plus he's led Aledo to back-to-back 4A state titles.

Joining Gray are two other record-setting performers, Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham and Ohio quarterback Maty Mauk, both of whom posted eye-popping stats as juniors.

Mario Edwards and Robert Nkemdiche, only a junior, lead the defensive selections.

First Team Offense

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, 6-6, 220, Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.), Senior, Undecided
The nation's No. 1 recruit will likely be remembered as one of the best high school wide receivers ever.

Josh Weeks, WR, 6-4, 200, Show Low (Ariz.), Senior, BYU
An all-Arizona pick, Weeks was nearly unstoppable, catching 73 passes for 1,561 yards and 20 touchdowns. He'll be one of the top players in Arizona this year.

Devante Lacy, WR, 5-8, 165, Grand Prairie (Texas), Senior, Undecided
Lacy earned 5A all-state honors following a prolific season that saw him catch 95 passes for 1,186 yards and 14 scores.

Nick Rudolph, TE, 6-4, 205, Ventura (Calif.), Senior, Undecided
An all-league pick a year ago, Rudolph is coming off a junior season in which he pulled in 42 catches for 719 yards, finding the end zone 15 times for Ventura.



Derek Edinburgh, OL, 6-8, 320, Karr (New Orleans), Senior, LSU
With his massive frame, Edinburgh opened holes for Karr's running game and was a 4A all-state pick.

D.J. Humphries, OL, 6-5, 270, Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), Senior, Florida
Humphries' fine play allowed quarterback Marquise Williams to throw for more than 3,000 yards for Mallard Creek last season. Without Williams behind center, Humphries could lead the way for a more run-heavy offense.

Zach Banner, OL, 6-9, 310, Lakes (Lakewood, Wash.), Senior, Undecided
Banner has his pick of offers. Whichever college lands him will be getting a tackle with an extremely high ceiling.

Kyle Kalis, OL, 6-5, 305, St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), Senior, Michigan
An all-Ohio pick by JJ Huddle last season, Kalis will lead an experienced St. Edward offensive line that enjoyed a great offseason in the weight room.

John Theus, OL, 6-6, 301, Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.), Senior, Georgia
An early commit to Georgia, Theus will once again pave the way for Bolles' potent offense.

Maty Mauk, QB, 6-2, 185, Kenton (Ohio), Junior, Undecided
Mauk completed 372 of 568 passes for 5,670 yards and 69 touchdowns while rushing 164 times for 974 yards and 16 scores. He will go down as one of the nation's most prolific passers ever.

Jameis Winston, QB, 6-3, 190, Hueytown (Ala.), Senior, Florida State
An ASWA Super 12 pick, Winston completed 65 precent of his passes for 2,342 yards and and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed for 870 yards and 11 scores.

Johnathan Gray, RB, 5-10, 185, Aledo (Texas), Senior, Texas
Gray is the favorite for National Player of the Year honors and has an outside shot at breaking Ken Hall's all-time career rushing record.

Rushel Shell, RB, 5-11, 215, Hopewell (Aliquippa, Pa.), Senior, Undecided
Shell gained 2,510 yards on 323 carries last season, scoring 32 times. He has 29 consecutive 100-yard games.

Derrick Henry, RB, 6-2, 215, Yulee (Fla.), Junior, Georgia
The reigning National Sophomore of the Year gave an early verbal commitment to Georgia. He's been nothing short of sensational his first two years in high school.

New Jersey coaches voted Fuller the state's Offensive Player of the Year as a junior. He could be even better this fall.

Pate Demuth, K, 5-10, 185, Central Hinds Academy (Raymond, Miss.), Senior, Undecided
DeMuth was an all-state pick in Mississippi's talent-laden Class 6A.

First Team Defense



Robert Nkemdiche, DL, 6-5, 265, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), Junior, Undecided
With 18 sacks as a sophomore, Nkemdiche may have a Jadeveon Clowney-like impact by the time he's a senior.

Mario Edwards, DL, 6-4, 250, Ryan (Denton, Texas), Senior, Florida State
With 32 tackles for loss and 12 sacks, Edwards was the 4A Defensive Player of the Year in his first season at Ryan.

Dante Fowler, DL, 6-4, 235, Lakewood (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Senior, Florida State
Extremely quick off the edge, the future Seminole was responsible for 106 tackles and 20 sacks

Channing Ward, DL, 6-5, 250, Aberdeen (Miss.), Senior, Undecided
Ward earned all-state honors after a sensational junior campaign in which he made 119 tackles and 13 sacks.

Landon Collins, LB, 6-0, 200, Dutchtown (Geismar, La.), Senior, Undecided
Collins had a monster summer on the camp circuit and has seen his stock rise even higher.

Reggie Ragland, LB, 6-4, 225, Bob Jones (Madison, Ala.), Senior, Alabama
A two-time all-state selection, Ragland should be even better as a senior.



Josh Clemons, LB, 6-5, 225, Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.), Senior, Undecided
An all-state pick as a junior in AAAAA, Clemons will lead a nasty Lowndes defense in 2011.

Brian Nance, LB, 6-3, 215, Trinity (Euless, Texas), Senior, Undecided
A leader on the Trojans' defense, Nance totaled 121 tackles, four interceptions, three sacks and two defensive touchdowns. He will be one of the top defensive players in the state of Texas this season.

Kwon Alexander, LB, 6-2, 210, Oxford (Ala.), Senior, Undecided
Alexander was a 6A all-state honorable mention after being in on 147 total tackles and recording 17 sacks.

Davonte Neal, DB, 5-9, 173, Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Junior, Undecided
The Arizona Republic named Neal its Big Schools Player of the Year after he intercepted five passes, returning two of them for scores, and scored four times on kick returns. He'll be a key cog for nationally ranked Chaparral.

Thompson is a two-way star who could be most deadly in the secondary for one of California's top programs.

Also a threat on both offense and defense, Diggs is one of the most dynamic athletes in the country. He enjoyed a great summer and will lead Good Counsel against several challenging out-of-state opponents.

The hard-hitting Ledbetter adds to Florida's recent tradition of landing top defensive backs.

Sheldon Wilson, P, 5-11, 170, Anadarko (Okla.), Senior, Undecided
In addition to averaging more than 53 yards per punt, Wilson rushed for 2,798 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Bryton Griffin, WR, 6-1, 185, Blue Ridge (Greer, S.C.), Senior, Undecided
The Greer-Citizen Player of the Year, Griffin was one of the country's most productive receivers. He made 69 receptions for 1,283 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Cayleb Jones, WR, 6-3, 190, Austin (Texas), Senior, Texas
Despite missing parts of four games due to injury, Jones still accounted for 76 catches and 1,000 yards, earning 5A second team all-state honors.

Shaq Roland, WR, 6-1, 170, Lexington (S.C.), Senior, South Carolina
Roland made 53 catches for 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns to go along with 21 rushing touchdowns and three scores on defense and special teams.

Though undersized, Webber was stunningly productive. He is being recruited by several Ivy League schools.

One of the top junior recruits in the country, Young was an all-area pick as a junior.

An all-area quarterback according to the Palm Beach Post, Moore was a true dual threat, accumulating a total of 3,105 yards and 48 scores.

Brewer tossed 37 touchdowns a year ago and will lead Chaparral this year into an early season showdown with Bishop Gorman.

I'tavius Mathers, RB, 5-10, 185, Blackman (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Senior, Ole Miss
The Tennessean's Player of the Year, Mathers gained 2,614 yards and scored 29 touchdowns on 240 carries. He also returned two kicks for touchdowns.

Williams rushed for 2,286 yards and 22 scores one year after rushing for nearly 2,000 yards as a sophomore.

The Oklahoman's Offensive Player of the Year, Roberts carried 308 times for 2,002 yards and 32 scores.

The extremely versatile Neal can play up to five positions for DeSmet.

One of Ohio's most-dominant defensive players, Washington registered 119 tackles and 17 sacks, earning all-state recognition.

Spence, a three-year starter, once again posted huge numbers for Bishop McDevitt. He finished with 101 tackles and 21 sacks.

An all-region selection, Durham finished with 130 tackles to go along with 2 1/2 sacks, two forced fumbles, an interception and a blocked kick.
