Football Recap: Maricopa's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Maricopa entered their tilt with Nogales on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took down the Apaches 28-9. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maricopa's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fabian Marrufo, who picked up 78 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Marrufo a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Maricopa's defense and their 4.5 sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Tayeshawn Hester and Ruben White, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.

Maricopa's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Nogales, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Maricopa will welcome Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jose Cardona Jr and Julian Hainley. As for Nogales, they are taking a road trip to square off against Desert Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Apaches will be up against the Thunder's rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
