Preview: Westview Chargers vs. Fayette Ware Wildcats

Westview has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Fayette Ware Wildcats at 8:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Westview came up short against Humboldt and fell 69-62.

Meanwhile, Fayette Ware waltzed into their game Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 78-38 victory over Crockett County. The result was nothing new for Fayette Ware, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Fayette Ware's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Hayes, who scored eight points along with nine steals and five assists. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for him. Tacarien Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Fayette Ware, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Westview came up short against Fayette Ware in their previous meeting back in November of 2020, falling 51-44. Thankfully for Westview, Jasteven Walker (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
