Basketball Recap: Shawndale Lipscomb's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Global Concepts over Kennedy

Global Concepts fought the good fight in their overtime match against Kennedy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kennedy Bears by a score of 60-58. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 62-46.

Global Concepts lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shawndale Lipscomb, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lipscomb a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthuan Villalobo, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Global Concepts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Global Concepts now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Kennedy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.

Global Concepts will host Northstar Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will challenge Buffalo Academy of Science at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
