Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Coolidge Colts

Two dominant guards in Gabriel Hudgens and Quintin Cooper are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Roosevelt Roughriders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Coolidge Colts at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Roosevelt's tournament run continued when they took on Hillside on Saturday. Roosevelt secured a 74-70 W over Hillside. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in District of Columbia, while the Hornets are ranked 162nd in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coolidge entered their tilt with Flint Hill on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 73-63 win over the Huskies.

Coolidge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Roosevelt won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by Coolidge 72-71. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coolidge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
