Baseball Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs
North Star's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs by a score of 6-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Bryson Durst was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. North Star is 2-1 when Durst allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-11 otherwise. Durst was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, North Star let Andrew Retassie and Nate Orris run wild. Retassie got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Orris went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave Orris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Meyers, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.
North Star's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Looking ahead, North Star will challenge Conemaugh Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Claysburg-Kimmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
