Baseball Recap: Rosemead Comes Up Short

Rosemead dropped their record down to 7-13 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 6-0 to the South El Monte Eagles. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Rosemead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for South El Monte, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On South El Monte's side, not much got past Ryan Leon, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Rosemead off the board. Leon has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian Ortega was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Armando Huizar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rosemead has already played their next game, a 5-2 victory against Gabrielino on the 5th. As for South El Monte, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Arroyo on the 5th.
