Baseball Recap: Leetonia Bears vs. Southern Indians
Leetonia lost against Southern back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Leetonia Bears fell victim to a tough 9-1 loss at the hands of the Southern Indians. Leetonia has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Southern's part, Mason Pitts was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Pitts was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Ethan Richards was incredible, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4. Brody Brown was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Leetonia now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Southern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Leetonia is on the road again on Friday to play Southeast at 5:00 p.m. As for Southern, they will be playing at home against Jefferson County Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
