Basketball Game Preview: Denver West Cowboys vs. Englewood Pirates

The Denver West Cowboys just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Englewood Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver West will be strutting in after a victory while Englewood will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Denver West didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln as they won 48-33. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Celeste Marquez and Shukri Hussein were among the main playmakers for Denver West as the former posted 23 points and the latter went 7 of 12 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks Hussein has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marilyn Vega, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Englewood lost to The Pinnacle on the road by a 45-27 margin on Thursday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Englewood's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Denver West, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-4.

Denver West strolled past Englewood in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 by a score of 49-34. Does Denver West have another victory up their sleeve, or will Englewood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
