Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Blackford

Blackford hadn't done well against Frankton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Blackford Bruins managed a 61-56 victory over the Frankton Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Bruins as they're now sitting on three straight.

Blackford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Baker out in front who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. Baker's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mason Kitterman, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Blackford was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Frankton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brady Carmack, who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Carmack is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Trey Bennett was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Blackford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Frankton, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-8.

Blackford has already played their next match, a 68-63 win against Monroe Central on the 25th. As for Frankton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-37 victory against Wes-Del on the 25th.
