The team relied heavily on Brian Bodman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Matthew Fountain was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
As for Amelia Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7. Surprisingly, this marked their third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
On Amelia Academy's side, Jacob Creswell put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Creswell has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Amelia Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Amir Hall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carson Dietz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot will challenge Kenston Forest at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kavaliers have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season. Amelia Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
