Recap: Tombstone Yellow Jackets vs. Pima Roughriders
If the Tombstone Yellow Jackets were riding high off their 63-31 takedown of the Bisbee Pumas last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Tombstone suffered a tough 56-33 defeat at the hands of Pima on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Tombstone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Pima is ranked 16th).
When it comes to explaining why Tombstone lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brooklynn Penrose. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Pima was led to victory by Sadie Richardson and Ady Hoopes. Richardson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Hoopes dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gann, who scored five points along with three steals.
Tombstone's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Pima, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Tombstone will square off against Empire at 11:20 a.m. on Thursday. Empire is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Pima will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Bisbee at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Bisbee is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
