Softball Recap: Buhach Colony Takes a Loss

Buhach Colony dropped their record down to 7-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 11-0 to the Merced Bears. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-0 defeat on April 3rd.

As for Merced, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4-1 record this season. Considering they have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Merced's part, not much got past Annalise Ramirez, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Buhach Colony off the board.

At the plate, Evannie Valdovinos was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lillian Gallegos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buhach Colony will take on Atwater at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Merced, they will face off against El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears are facing the Gauchos at the right time seeing as the Gauchos are stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
