Softball Recap: Isabella Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Isabella came into Thursday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Central of Coosa County Cougars on Thursday as the Isabella Mustangs made off with a 13-3 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2017.

Maleigh Mcgalliard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Mcgalliard was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubreigh Davenport, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily Castleberry, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

The victory got Isabella back to even at 4-4. As for Central of Coosa County, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Isabella will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Maplesville at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Maplesville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.73 runs per game on average), something Isabella will no doubt try to take advantage of. Central of Coosa County will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Verbena at 1:00 p.m. on April 4th.
