Baseball Recap: Orcutt Academy Starts Season with Win at Home

Orcutt Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coastal Christian Conquerors, sneaking past 8-7. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Conquerors, too.

Orcutt Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Chambers, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Chambers a new career-high in RBI. Another was Alex Meraz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Coastal Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orcutt Academy will square off against Carpinteria at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Coastal Christian, they will challenge Caruthers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
