Softball Recap: Colton Vikings vs. Western Christian Pioneers
It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Colton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-18 victory over the Western Christian Pioneers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted against the Pioneers since May 18, 2022.
Clara Weinberger was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Kaylee Holiday, who went 4-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Holiday a new career-high. Amelia Joost was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Colton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Christian only posted a batting average of .200.
Colton's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13-1. As for Western Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
Colton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-5 defeat against Salem Academy on the 13th. As for Western Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 9-5 loss against Kennedy on the 16th.
