Football Recap: Norwell Comes Up Short

Norwell had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it seven. They took a blow against the DeKalb Barons, falling 42-0. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 47-21 to the Barons when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for DeKalb, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The result was nothing new for the Barons, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Eli McCormick was his usual excellent self, throwing for 107 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 58 yards and one touchdown. Those 58 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Noah Spears was in the mix too, providing DeKalb with two scores.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Norwell will square off against rival Huntington North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, DeKalb is set to challenge their familiar foe Bellmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
