Volleyball Recap: Hazleton Area Comes Up Short

Hazleton Area lost against Wilkes-Barre back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hazleton Area fell 3-1 to Wilkes-Barre. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-27, 25-10, 25-10.

Jordany Rodriguez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wilkes-Barre, getting 23 digs, 15 kills, four aces, and one block. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Tijan Njai, who had 25 assists and 11 digs.

Hazleton Area's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wilkes-Barre, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-7-2 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hazleton Area is set to face off against their familiar foe Hanover Area at 4:30 p.m. on April 15. Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre will square off against rival Tunkhannock at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
