Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Kenwood

Kenwood waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Amundsen Vikings. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Jace Binion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Kenwood is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shaun Vaughns, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Khaiden Thomas was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Kenwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Amundsen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9-1.

Kenwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Taft on the 12th. As for Amundsen, they will face off against North Shore Country Day at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
