Laney has gone 10-0 against Topsail recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Laney knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Topsail likes a good challenge.

Laney is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing South Brunswick: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Laney blew South Brunswick out of the water with a 63-27 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-13.

Meanwhile, Topsail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Hoggard, falling 64-40. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Vikings are ranked 33rd).

Laney has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Topsail, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Laney was able to grind out a solid win over Topsail in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 57-50. Will Laney repeat their success, or does Topsail have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
