Softball Recap: Mccutcheon Extends Winning Streak to Three

McCutcheon waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Kokomo Wildkats. For the Mavericks, this counts as revenge for the 6-4 victory the Wildkats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Haley Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaidynn Peckinpaugh, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Miller, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

McCutcheon's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Kokomo, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCutcheon will welcome Western Boone at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks will need to watch out since the Stars have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matches. As for Kokomo, they will take on Covenant Christian in a tournament on Friday.
