Volleyball Game Preview: Ludlow Lions vs. Westfield Bombers

Ludlow hasn't had much luck against Westfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lions will challenge the Bombers at 5:15 p.m.

Ludlow is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Frontier Regional.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Frontier Regional scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Westfield waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Orioles with a sharp 3-0 victory.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-12, 25-15.

Westfield's win came from a few key players Ludlow will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nolan Rodgers, who had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most digs he has posted over his last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Yurtuc, who had 15 assists and four digs.

Westfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in six consecutive contests.

Westfield pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ludlow, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Ludlow might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Westfield in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
