Softball Recap: Winter Haven Takes a Loss

Winter Haven had taken Lake Gibson down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Blue Devils lost 20-6 to the Braves. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Cameron Shelby made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Stephanie Dye was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Winter Haven has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Lake Gibson, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Looking ahead, Winter Haven will venture away from home to square off against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Gibson, they will host Ridge Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Braves are facing the Bolts at the right time seeing as the Bolts are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
