Volleyball Recap: Avery Thigpen Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Baker + How To Watch

Choctawhatchee won the last time they faced Baker and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Indians came out on top against the Gators by a score of 3-1.

Choctawhatchee walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-8, 19-25, 25-16.

Choctawhatchee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Thigpen, who had nine digs and four aces. Thigpen is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mikah Bandy, who had ten digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Choctawhatchee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Baker saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bailey Johnson had ten digs and one assist.

Choctawhatchee's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Baker, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Choctawhatchee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Fort Walton Beach on the 2nd. As for Baker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Chipley on the 2nd.
