Recap: Oakman Wildcats vs. Gordo Green Wave
It was a good run, but the Oakman Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to Gordo 49-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Oakman came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Green Wave are ranked 314th).
Oakman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenton Warren, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Warren hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Bridger Upton, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Oakman's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Gordo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.
Oakman is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Gordo, they will be playing at home against the Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
