Basketball Recap: Hoxie Takes a Loss

Hoxie lost against Newport back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hoxie Mustangs took a blow against the Newport Greyhounds, falling 85-23. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 123rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Hoxie and nudges their season record down to 1-11. As for Newport, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoxie will head out to take on Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newport, they will face off against Manila at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
