Softball Recap: Harding Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

The Harding Knights got the win against the Brooklyn Center Centaurs on Wednesday by a conclusive 19-2. Considering the Knights have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avorn Vang made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marcela Deloye-Romero was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Cadence Lee was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Harding hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Harding pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Brooklyn Center, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Harding will square off against Humboldt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.44 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. Brooklyn Center has already played their next contest (against Academy for Sciences & Agriculture), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
