Soccer Game Preview: Lewisburg vs. Oxford

The Lewisburg Patriots will challenge the Oxford Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lewisburg comes in on four and Oxford on seven.

Lewisburg's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Horn Lake with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Horn Lake with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Larkyn Griffin (3), Brianna Kimbrell (2), Marissa Black, and Mia Cagle.

Meanwhile, Oxford faced Hernando in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Oxford came out on top in a nail-biter against Hernando, sneaking past 2-1.

Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those nine contests. As for Lewisburg, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Lewisburg came up short against Oxford when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 4-2. Can Lewisburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
