Basketball Game Preview: Clearview Clippers vs. Keystone Wildcats

The Clearview Clippers will venture away from home to challenge the Keystone Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Clearview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Black River 83-56 on Friday. With the Clippers ahead 43-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Clearview can attribute much of their success to Quavion Grant, who went 11 for 16 on his way to 27 points, and Cy Christensen, who went 10 of 15 en route to 23 points and four steals. That's the most points Christensen has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Armelin, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Keystone entered their tilt with Oberlin on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the The Phoenix as they made off with a 62-38 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Keystone found their leader in freshman Colt Cowling, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 23 points and four steals. The matchup was Cowling's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zach Shackelfod, who went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Keystone's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Clearview, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Clearview has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Keystone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Clearview might still be hurting after the 62-37 defeat they got from Keystone in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cowling, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 23 points.
