Baseball Recap: Smethport Victorious

Smethport's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Oswayo Valley Green Wave 8-7. The Hubbers haven't had any issues with the Green Wave recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Colin Riekofsky made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Smethport is 6-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Riekofsky was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Riekofsky wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Hungiville, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Camryn Young was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Smethport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Smethport's record now sits at 7-5. As for Oswayo Valley, their record is now 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Smethport will challenge Cameron County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Oswayo Valley, they will take on Kane at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
