Softball Recap: Exeter Comes Up Short

Exeter lost to Immanuel back in April and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Monarchs fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1.

Chloe Sparrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Exeter saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leila Whitworth, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Exeter's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Immanuel, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8.

Exeter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Washington Union on the 8th. As for Immanuel, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Kerman on the 8th.
