Basketball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Taholah Chitwhins

The Willapa Valley Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Taholah Chitwhins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Willapa Valley will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Willapa Valley got the win against Naselle by a conclusive 72-51. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Willapa Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blane King, who went 9 of 18 en route to 25 points. That's the most points King has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brody Aust, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Taholah suffered their closest loss since February 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Ocosta by a score of 67-64. The Chitwhins haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Willapa Valley pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Taholah, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Willapa Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Taholah when the teams last played on January 7th, winning 59-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willapa Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
