Baseball Recap: Western Wins Going Away Against Hastings

Western got themselves on the board against Hastings on Monday, but Hastings never followed suit. They blew past the Saxons 11-0. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Saxons: they've now won five in a row.

Brody Parrott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Parrott was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Levy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DJ VanRiper, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hastings only posted a batting average of .059.

The victory got Western back to even at 9-9-1. As for Hastings, they are on a 21-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-26.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will challenge Hanover-Horton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hastings, they will square off against Pennfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
