Softball Recap: Granada Hills Charter Snags 17th Win in Last 18 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Granada Hills Charter rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Banning Pilots a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Highlanders have won 18 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Granada Hills Charter got a great performance from Addison Moorman as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Moorman has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elysse Diaz, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Brown, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Granada Hills Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive games.

Granada Hills Charter is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Banning, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-17.
