Softball Recap: Chico Comes Up Short

Chico and Pleasant Valley squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Chico had to settle for second. They fell 6-3 to the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss two weeks ago.

Addi Hosier made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Emily Babler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Chico's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Pleasant Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6-1 record this season.

Chico and Pleasant Valley are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Panthers will face off against Las Plumas at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chico 4.1, the Thunderbirds 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pleasant Valley, they will square off against Foothill at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
