Soccer Game Preview: Triangle Math & Science vs. Franklin Academy

Triangle Math & Science is 0-5 against Franklin Academy since September of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers will challenge the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Triangle Math & Science took a five-goal defeat the last time they faced off against NCSSM: Durham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers' defense stepped up to hand the Unicorns a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Triangle Math & Science's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 240th, while NCSSM: Durham are ranked 61st).

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Franklin Academy were the better team in the second half.

Triangle Math & Science's record is now 10-7. As for Franklin Academy, their record now sits at 14-2-1.
