Basketball Recap: Braxton Sercye's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blountstown over Crossroad Academy

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Blountstown couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crossroad Academy Scorpions. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Blountstown lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braxton Sercye, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Curtis Ellis was another key player, putting up nine points and six assists.

It was another big night for Forrest Dudley, who went 9-for-21 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and five steals for Crossroad Academy. Dudley has become a key player for Crossroad Academy: the team is 10-3 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrek Jessie, who posted six points and four steals.

Blountstown's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Crossroad Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Blountstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crossroad Academy, they will take on Munroe at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Munroe will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Crossroad Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
