Recap: Camelback Spartans vs. Maryvale Panthers
It was a good run, but the Camelback Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 69-52 bruising from Maryvale. Camelback has struggled against Maryvale recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Camelback lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kofi Idris. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 rebounds and 12 blocks. Idris is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aken Logan, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Adrian Stubbs was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds for Maryvale. Stubbs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Murphy, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Camelback's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Maryvale, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camelback will take on Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maryvale, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against San Luis at 7:00 p.m.
