Softball Game Preview: Zion-Benton Zee-Bees vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

Zion-Benton is 0-10 against Warren Township since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Zee-Bees will take on the Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.

Zion-Benton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Lake Forest on Monday. The Zee-Bees blew past the Scouts 17-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Zee-Bees, who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, Warren Township came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with an 18-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Zion-Benton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Warren Township, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Zion-Benton came up short against Warren Township in their previous matchup back in April, falling 8-4. Can the Zee-Bees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
