Baseball Recap: Carrier Mills-Stonefort Comes Up Short

Carrier Mills-Stonefort had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 back in March.

As for Galatia/Thompsonville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

For Galatia/Thompsonville's part, AJ Downing was a standout: he fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Downing a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Sais, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Looking ahead, Carrier Mills-Stonefort will welcome Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Galatia/Thompsonville, they will head out to face off against Century at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
