Softball Recap: Cascade Champions vs. Grundy County Yellowjackets
Cascade can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the Grundy County Yellowjackets. The victory was just what Cascade needed coming off of a 19-4 loss in their prior game.
Brianna Horn made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned run or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Horn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Horn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, six RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Ella Thompson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alivia Fannin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Cascade's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Grundy County, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will take on Tullahoma at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tullahoma is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season. As for Grundy County, they will play host again on Friday to welcome Van Buren County, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
