Softball Game Preview: Riverside Generals vs. Stanton Blue Devils

Riverside hasn't had much luck against Stanton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Generals will head out to square off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Riverside has given up an average of 18.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Riverside is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to First Coast.

Meanwhile, Stanton waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Commanders.

Leah Joseph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evie Moore was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Stanton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Riverside suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Stanton in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
