Basketball Recap: Escalon Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Orestimba last Friday, Escalon came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sonora Wildcats on Wednesday. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sonora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rigo Estrella, who posted 23 points. The contest was Estrella's third in a row with at least 16 points. Steven Morfoot was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Escalon's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Sonora, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Escalon will head out to take on Hilmar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.35 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sonora, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Orestimba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
