Football Game Preview: Trumbull Eagles vs. Greenwich Cardinals

Trumbull hasn't had much luck against Greenwich recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eagles will take on the Cardinals at 2:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Trumbull is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Bridgeport Central, posting a 48-0 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 152nd) , the win on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caleb Wuchiski was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 48 yards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (138.2).

Meanwhile, Greenwich put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Westhill 63-6. The matchup marked the Cardinals' most dominant win of the season so far.

Trumbull better keep an eye on Hector Lopez(C). He was instrumental in Greenwich's win, rushing for 104 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Lopez(C) is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Phil Tarantino, who threw for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing.

Greenwich's record now sits at 4-0. As for Trumbull, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Things could have been worse for Trumbull, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 21-7 loss to Greenwich when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
