Basketball Game Preview: East Chambers Buccaneers vs. Orangefield Bobcats

East Chambers is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Orangefield is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The East Chambers Buccaneers will host the Orangefield Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

East Chambers is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Warren: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that East Chambers blew Warren out of the water with an 83-39 final score. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Orangefield challenged Kirbyville on Friday. Orangefield blew past Kirbyville 84-31. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Chambers better keep an eye on Jaden Scales. He was instrumental in Orangefield's win, going 9 for 16 en route to 25 points along with eight assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Scales a new career-high in assists. Griffin Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Orangefield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.8 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.7.

Orangefield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for East Chambers, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7.
