Softball Recap: Lakeland Preparatory Has No Trouble Against Fayette Ware

It was a proper cat-fight when Lakeland Preparatory duked it out with Fayette Ware on Wednesday. Lakeland Preparatory was the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over Fayette Ware. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Savannah Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Lana Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.8 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Jayda Neeley, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lakeland Preparatory hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fayette Ware struck out eight times.

The win got Lakeland Preparatory back to even at 2-2. As for Fayette Ware, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Lakeland Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fayette Ware, they will venture away from home to take on Tipton Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
